Astigmatism

Patients with astigmatism usually have an irregularly shaped cornea, called corneal astigmatism. Another type of astigmatism is called lenticular astigmatism. This is the result of an irregularly shaped lens, which is located behind the cornea. Either kind of astigmatism can usually be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery.

However, many patients with astigmatism, wearing soft toric lenses experience changing or unstable vision due to the toric lens rotation, a common problem often associated with toric contact lenses used to help correct astigmatism. The variable vision can occur anytime and is often more noticeable in lower levels of illumination, such as driving at night.

The SynergEyes® A lens was designed to provide an astigmatic correction without the contact lens rotation. Patients with astigmatism can now enjoy clear vision from contact lenses without the worry of unpredictable toric lens rotation. The rigid center of the SynergEyes® A hybrid contact lens uses the natural tear layer behind the lens to correct corneal astigmatism providing crisp, reliable and stable vision, and delivering consistently clear vision – blink after blink.

Your eye care professional will be able to tell if the SynergEyes® A lens is the right lens for the correction of your astigmatism.
